Queens, New York -
August 7, 2009
Last weekend in Queens, Jamaica Avenue was closed to traffic, as revelers took to the street for the 14th Annual Jamaica Jams festival and Street Fair. Once again, managed care organization Health Plus was one of the presenting sponsors of the event, on hand to rejoice with the community.
The Celebration kicked off Friday night with a concert in Kings Park which paid tribute to Latin and Jazz music. The next day, a ten-block stretch between Parsons Boulevard and 169th Street came alive, as over 150,000 people filled the streets to enjoy music, food, games, and a diverse party atmosphere that could only be found in Queens.
“This is always such a fun event,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus. “Queens is such a diverse area, and it’s always evolving. So, when you come to an event here, you can never be sure what to expect, other than an amazingly good time. It’s always a pleasure to come out see what is in store for this year. We can’t wait to be back for the next one!”
Health Plus Staff stands next to one of the company’s kiosks that dotted the Jamaica Jams Festival along Jamaica Ave, between Parsons Boulevard and 169th Street this past weekend.
