Another Fine Day for the Bronx
Health Plus Sponsors 12th Annual Fordham Renaissance

Bronx, New York - September 11, 2007 — This past Sunday, as the late summer sun beat down hard on the streets of the Bronx, local residents fought back with even hotter rhythms and cool vibes as thousands came out for the 12th Annual Fordham Road Renaissance Festival – once again sponsored by managed care organization Health Plus.

For the thousands of Bronx residents who came out for the celebration, this event marks twelve years of improvements to the region, the most noticeable of which is the refurbished state of the business district along Fordham Road.  For the children too young to remember the conditions that had plagued the neighborhood in past decades, it was a day of celebrating pride in their community, marking the occasion with games and attractions such as face-painting clowns, carnival fare, and of course the concert stage.  Bronx babies – the young and the young at heart – were regaled with performances by Toby Love, Fulanito, Notch, and Freestyle legend George Lamond.

“What a spectacular event,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus. “There is so much to love about the Bronx. These past few years that we’ve been working closely with the Fordham community, we’ve been welcomed here with open arms and big smiles.  It’s our pleasure to come out for festivals like this one, and we look forward to being here again next year.”

Health Plus Regional Marketing Manager David Medina, and Marketing Representative Ivo Ngala, stand with several Bronx children awaiting their turn to get their faces painted by a festive clown.
