Bronx, NY - November 20, 2003 — To celebrate November as Puerto Rican Heritage Month, Health Plus, the largest provider of government sponsored health insurance in the city and state, sponsored Puerto Rico's national singer Danny Rivera, in Alma De Cantor, performing classics from his four-decade-spanning, gold record career and paying homage to the New York Puerto Rican community.

With the Puerto Rican flag waving behind Danny throughout his performance, Puerto Rican heritage was the focus of the night. The audience vividly displayed their pride in their Puerto Rican heritage by shouting "Viva Puerto Rico Libre" between the songs and even imitating the "coqui," a small frog native to the Island with a big voice that has become a symbol of national pride. At one time during the show this prompted Danny to imitate the "coqui" also, much to the audience's delight.

But don't think the show was exclusively dominated by celebrating Puerto Rican heritage; there was more than a fair share of the romance and love songs for which Danny is also known. For one song, Danny brought La India on stage to sing an amorous duet, plucking the heart strings of the audience.

Danny, who is known for his work on behalf of many humanitarian causes, says he was glad to partner with Health Plus on this concert.

"Children are very important to me," says Danny Rivera. "That's why I am very grateful that Health Plus is promoting this concert. They are saving, protecting, and helping children."

Danny is no stranger to helping children. In Costa Rica, he recently promoted a "Save the Children from the Street" program. Additionally, he recently supported efforts providing hospitals in Santo Domingo with medicines.

"We're really happy to present this exclusive concert," says Ada Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer at Health Plus. "Danny Rivera's love and care for humanity is internationally known, and is remarkably compatible with Health Plus's mission."

That mission is to provide free and affordable health care to children and adults in New York City in need throughout this city. Covering over 200,000 New Yorkers means they are well on their way to accomplishing that goal.
