The "Pan Am" torch was brought to New York before it makes its way to the Dominican Republic for this year's competition, beginning August 1st, in which athletes from American Countries compete for medals in 32 different sporting events. Health Plus, the Medicaid managed care organization, sponsored the torch run, which started at 135th and Broadway, and the concert ceremony concluding the day at Highbridge Park.
