But, this past week, the company’s Community Relations Department tried something new. Organizing the First Annual Community Health and Resources Fair, which invited nearly two hundred partner organizations together for seven events over three days, Health Plus took aim
at helping fellow New Yorkers “spring back to health”.
The first 5 events took place on Saturday May 15th, one in each of the five boroughs. The next day another fair was held for the Jewish community; while a Nassau County event took place that following Tuesday. During the Manhattan event Health Plus had the opportunity to honor the men and women of the Community Affairs Unit of the Patrol Borough Manhattan North, a department of the NYPD that has been an important partner of Health Plus for years.
Those in attendance were treated to give-a-ways, healthy snacks, and access to information about health care options from Health Plus.
“We are very proud of this event,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus, “as well as our Community Relations Department. It really goes to show what a group of dedicated coordinators can do. We always strive to support as many of our partners in the community as possible, but to have such a great turnout for our own events shows the impact that our staff is having and continues to have on the communities we serve. I look forward to seeing more great events like these with our present and future partners.”
