Celebrating Brooklyn/Queens Day
Health Plus Hosts International Family Day

Brooklyn, New York - June 9, 2009 — Last Thursday, as local residents celebrated Brooklyn/Queens Day in Sunset Park, managed care organization Health Plus – along with partners Councilman Felix Ortiz and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation– gave everyone an extra reason to celebrate as they hosted International Family Day.

Over two thousand people showed up at the Sunset Park Recreation Center on 7th Avenue for a day of music, food, entertainment, and fun for the whole family.  Those in attendance enjoyed performances by Chinese fold dancers, puppet shows, live music, an inflatable playground for children, and even a zoologist with some rare creatures.

“We love events that promote the diversity of Sunset Park,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus. “At Health Plus, we never forget that this is where we got our start, and we continue to think of Sunset Park as our home. These residents are our neighbors and family, so when everyone in the community comes together for a day of International unity, it makes us extra proud.”
