The festivities opened with the Jook Lum Southern Mantis Dance Troupe performing a ceremonial Lion Dance -- one of the most recognized of the traditional Chinese New Year customs. As the crowd settled down after the theatrics of the Lion Dance, Jimmy Yan, General Council for the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, took the floor to welcome the guests and introduce Borough President Scott Stringer.
After a few opening remarks, Borough President Stringer introduced the honorees of the day, all of whom who were bestowed with Distinguished Leadership Awards. Health Plus Regional Marketing Director Tommy Cen was also on hand to congratulate the guests as they received their awards.
“We’re delighted to salute our neighbors and colleagues in Chinatown,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus. “It means a lot to us to be able to honor those that share our mission, vision, and values, and who help us in our goal of serving the many communities of New York City.”
