Joining forces for another year, managed care organization Health Plus and the New York Mets kicked off the 2007 season of Lets Go Kids, a program that offers local children an opportunity to see professional baseball up close, and a chance to meet some of the New York Mets, experiencing what it feels like to stand on the field of a real ball park.
Partnering with various youth organizations throughout the city and Nassau County, Health Plus will play host to two-thousand children from across the New York metropolitan area at a total of 4 Mets games – five-hundred children at each game –with a lucky dozen at each given the additional treat of meeting a Mets player on the field.
“Every year,” says Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus and lifelong Mets fan, “we’re delighted to be part of an event that gives young fans the chance to meet their baseball idols and to experience the thrill of live baseball at Shea Stadium. I know first hand what a great thing it is to see them hit the field. I know that many of these children have never seen a game in person before, and I’m proud to offer these new fans a chance to see my favorite team in action.”
