New York, New York - July 2, 2007 — Yesterday in the streets of Manhattan’s Chinatown, tens of thousands of Asian Americans came out to show their patriotism during the Chinatown Independence Day Parade, which has become an enthusiastic tradition in lower Manhattan over the past decade.  Once again, managed care organization Health Plus was there as both a sponsor and participant as its Asian Marketing Team, along with volunteers, took to the streets, marching proudly.

The parade began on Mott Street, near the corner of Houston, making its way to Chatham Square, then looping back around on East Broadway, covering most of the major streets in Chinatown.  The theme for the event was “Home and Heritage,” a tribute to Chinatown and New York’s Asian-American community, showcasing its American patriotism and celebrating the contributions that Asian Americans have made in the past few centuries.

“I’m thrilled that we could be a part of this parade,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus.  “Seeing my team out there, marching with such pride in a country where many of them were not born, makes me proud of my company and proud to be an American.  I look forward to supporting this important celebration of Independence in the future.”

The Health Plus Asian Marketing Team, along with several volunteers, march proudly through the streets of Chinatown in Manhattan yesterday, during the 10th Annual Chinatown Independence Day Parade.
