New York, New York - October 16, 2006 — As yesterday marked another year and another step further in the race against breast cancer, once again, managed care organization Health Plus proudly sponsored several teams of employees who volunteered to come out and show support for this magnificent cause.

Last year’s walk took place in over 100 cities across the country and raised over 34 million dollars.  This year, the numbers are just as impressive as the tallies come in region by region.   The New York City walks alone (held in Prospect Park, Brooklyn; Queens Borough Hall; Clove Lake Park, Staten Island; Orchard Beach, in the Bronx; and Manhattan’s Central Park) have already generated well over a million dollars -- and the pledged donations continue to pour in.

“We are proud to be part of such an important event,” said Tom Early, Executive Director for Health Plus.  “Breast Cancer doesn’t just affect women; it affects husbands, sisters, brothers, mothers, whole families, regardless of culture or background.  Health Plus is committed to doing all we can to help raise money and awareness to help wage the fight against this disease, not only for the health and wellbeing of our members but for the communities in which they live.”
