Brooklyn, NY - September 7, 2005 — Radio stations all across the city dusted off their best reggae tunes this past weekend.  It was in preparation for the biggest Caribbean Festival north of the Antilles and the largest cultural event in Brooklyn.  Over one million people came out to Eastern Parkway to get a glimpse of the spectacle, hear the music, smell and hopefully get a taste of the food, all of which carried the flavor of the Islands.  Whether from Jamaica or Trinidad, the Bahamas or Haiti, all of New York’s Caribbean Americans got to feel a piece of home.

“We love sponsoring events like this,” said Ada Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer for Health Plus.  “There is just so much energy at this parade, and every year it gets better and better.  The costumes get more and more impressive, and each year the crowd gets more and more excited.  At Health Plus we are very concerned with cultural awareness, and at the West Indian Day Parade, you’re not just made aware of culture, you get sucked in.”
