The theme of this year’s breakfast was “Latinas Mean Business” – and those who spoke, including mayoral candidate Fernando Ferrer, acknowledged this fact.
Some of the honorees of the day included: Betty Manetta, who was named Businesswoman of the Year, and Napoleon Barragan, who was named Businessman of the Year. Maria Otero received the Advocacy Award of the Year. The keynote speaker of the Breakfast was the Honorable Leslie Crocker Snyder who has been nationally recognized for her work as both prosecutor and judge, and is currently running for Manhattan District Attorney.
“Latinas – and Latinos --have come a long way in the business world,” said Ada Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer for Health Plus, who also spoke at the breakfast. “We are no longer just a small voice in the masses. I am living proof of that, and so are many others in my company. We are proud to be here, not only to emphasize our own accomplishments, but to praise those of our friends and colleagues throughout the state of New York and across the country.”
