New York, NY - June 7, 2004 — Haiti and the Dominican Republic are relying on support after having been ravaged by the recent flood, which has left more than 3,000 dead or missing.

In light of such grim news, Health Plus has stepped forward to lend their support.  Last week, the Medicaid managed care organization collected 5,000 pounds of canned food, bottled water, rice, beans, medicine, and clothes.  The company delivered the goods on Friday to the Alianza Dominicana, in Manhattan, to be distributed to the devastated Caribbean nations.

"It's absolutely terrible what happened, and it's our responsibility to pitch in and help in whatever way we can," says Ada Rodriguez, Chief Marketing Officer for Health Plus.  "Health Plus has always been all about helping people in need.  We are there to lend a hand wherever we can."

Altogether, Alianza Dominicana has sent nearly 250,000 pounds of food and water to both the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

"We just got back from the Dominican Republic, where we met survivors and orphaned children, and we were very moved by the scene," Moises Perez, Executive Director for Alianza Dominicana says.  "We've stopped collecting goods, but we will continue collecting donations to fund our efforts to establish a medical team to help the injured and, separately, a housing team, to help with the rebuilding of the thousands of homes that were leveled."

Monetary donations can be sent to Alianza Dominicana, 2410 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY., or made with a credit card at http://www.alianzadom.com/.

Alianza Dominicana's Minerva Guerrero and Felix Arias, stand along side Health Plus's Scott Savino, Homy Pena, and Ada Rodriguez, who deliver goods to help Dominicans and Haitians affected by the recent flood.
