Health Plus Supports Traditional Hispanic Post-Christmas Parade For Children In King's County

Brooklyn, NY - January 8, 2004 — Thousands of people braved the frigid temperature and paraded down Graham Avenue last Sunday in Williamsburg for the seventh annual Brooklyn Three Kings Day Parade.
 
Health Plus, the Medicaid managed care organization, sponsored the traditional event giving away 400 toys to children in attendance.
 
The event celebrates the biblical story of the three kings or Magi. The kings, following the star of Bethlehem, brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the baby Jesus. It is a tradition in Latin America for children to leave water and grass out for the camels or horses and food for the kings, in hopes the kings will leave gifts.
 
A Three Kings gala dinner, at which Health Plus was honored for its support, was held two nights before the parade.
