Albany, NY - April 27, 2004 — Health Plus, the Medicaid managed care provider, once again was a major sponsor for the annual Somos el Futuro Puerto Rican/ Hispanic Legislative Conference.

This year's theme "La Mujer Hispana," saluted the Hispanic Woman and her contributions to society.  The many events held as part of this year's week-long conference included legislative sessions, dinner galas, Hispanic Youth leadership sessions, and an award scholarship ceremony rewarding several successful Hispanic students for their outstanding academic achievements.

"Health Plus is always proud to partner with groups whose primary interest is the advancement of our communities," says Ada Rodriguez, Health Plus's Chief Marketing Officer.  "Somos el Futuro is a great opportunity for Health Plus to show its support of our leaders and the Latino community of New York."

The conference's mission is to create opportunities that increase the participation of the Puerto Rican/Hispanic community in the public policy making process and build the capacity of New York's Hispanic communities to work towards the development of policies, laws, state rules and regulations that address the needs and issues of Hispanics across the state.

"Each year the conference has built on previous achievements, and the basic idea of bringing together political leaders, community leaders, the private sector and nonprofit sector to work on strengthening our state is the foundation of the conference," states Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera, Chairman of the New York State Assembly Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force.
