Queens, NY - April 5, 2004 — The Big Apple Youth Soccer League (BAYSL), sponsored by Health Plus, the Medicaid managed care organization, concluded it's sixth season of indoor soccer with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding players and teams.

The league, made up of 64 coed teams consisting of players in different age groups ranging from six to 13, held its awards ceremony at the Elmcor Center in Queens.  The champions for the 11-year-old category were the Flames; they received the "Sunil Gulati Award", named after the vice-president of the U.S. Soccer Federation and longtime league sponsor.

"We are happy to support the Big Apple Youth Soccer League because it provides our children with a great outlet during the winter months," says Health Plus's Special Events Coordinator David Bauduy.  "Indoor sports allow the children to remain active and healthy, even when it is too cold for them to play outdoors."
